Norris Tops Oscar Piastri in Sao Paulo Practice Session
The British driver has beaten Oscar Piastri at all of the last five race weekends.
The McLaren driver edged out team-mate and championship contender the Australian for the quickest lap in the dying seconds of the practice session at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix.
The British racer, who seized the title advantage from his teammate by just one point after taking the win in Mexico City a fortnight back, topped the Australian by 0.023 seconds.
Until that point, Piastri had been the quickest of the McLaren pair throughout the hour before sprint qualifying scheduled for 18:30 GMT.
The Red Bull star, the only other driver in realistic title contention, sitting 36 points behind Norris, ended up in 17th place as his team opted for a alternative strategy.
Verstappen's team-mate the Japanese driver was the only driver to go off, if briefly, when he lost control at the fourth corner early in the session.
The Japanese spun out over the curbs on exit before spinning across the escape zone, and was lucky to escape with just a light touch of the wall.
Ferrari's Lewis Hamilton also lost it, at the final moments of the session, turning around through the quick descending Mergulho corner approaching the last turn on to the main straight.
Hamilton finished practice in P19, trailing teammate Charles Leclerc.
The McLaren drivers were well clear of the rest of the field, with Nico Hulkenberg's car third fastest, 0.619 seconds off the Australian's time.
Aston Martin's Fernando Alonso was fourth quickest, with Sauber's Bortoleto ahead of Mercedes' Russell and the Alpine of Gasly and Williams' Sainz.
